Wolf Trap Farm Park is an outdoor park and recreation area that plays host to a wide variety of performance art events, from theater to concerts and more. The National Park Service maintains the grounds and buildings of Wolf Trap Farm Park and provides technical theater assistance for the Filene Center, the larger of the theater venues. In addition to outdoor theater and music, Wolf Trap offers a wide range of artistic and education programs, with the intent not only to enhance cultural life in the area but also to aid in the movement to keep the arts accessible and affordable to the broadest possible audience. The addition of The Barns of Wolf Trap created a year-round center for the performing arts and related education programs.
Visitors of all ages can enjoy a day at Wolf Trap. A typical season includes something for everyone, with performances ranging from pop, country, folk, and blues, to orchestra, dance, theater, and opera, as well as innovative performance art and multimedia presentations. Gates to the theater areas of the park open an hour and a half before the first performance. Many visitors use this opportunity to stroll or explore the serene landscapes, or to investigate the numerous programs offered here. There is plenty of space for picnicking as well, which can be a new and relaxing way to enjoy a performance. Shows are presented during rain or shine.
