The Newseum is closed and will open at a new downtown location in 2006. The Newseum - the only museum of its kind - offers is devoted to journalism, offering interactive exhibits on all fields of the craft. Open since April of 1997, exhibits include interactive displays where visitors can try their hand at being a TV anchor, sports announcer, investigative reporter, or other jobs in broadcasting and reporting. Other exhibits demonstrate how the elements of a story are put together and give a behind-the-scenes perspective on the news. Perhaps the biggest scoop ever, Columbus's letter to Queen Isabella about his discovery of the New World, is on display. Also inside the Newseum is a news gallery where visitors can catch the news hot off the press. Radio broadcasts from around the world can be heard, as well as a display of the headlines of 70 newspapers.
