The Smithsonian Institution's National Zoological Park has lions, tigers, elephants, monkeys, birds, and countless other species. The zoo also provides a wide array of restaurants and eateries, as well as gift and souvenir shops to suit visitors of any age. The National Zoo provides exhibits on particular animals before 10:00 a.m., allowing visitors to witness the creatures doing a little more than just sleeping. Any one who has ever been to the zoo should know not to arrive between 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. The animals are usually taking a siesta at this time, yet it still seems to be the busiest part of the day as far as visitors go. The National Zoo offers a wide array of educational programs, conservation and preservation programs, environmental programs and much more.
