Just steps away from the National Mall and the Washington Monument, the Bureau of Engraving and Printing prints out more than $450 million a day. The huge machines press 7,000 sheets of currency an hour, in addition to other documents needed by the government, such as stamps, military certificates, and presidential invitations. Take a free guided tour and see a stack of $10 bills that adds up to one million dollars. The 35-minute public tour is offered between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. This tour is closed on weekends and Federal holidays. The public tour is designed for individuals, families, and groups. The Bureau of Engraving and Printing has no interactive displays. All there really is to see are the stacks and stacks of cool, hard cash.
